Coronavirus and BHT: the solution! (or ?)

Abstract

BHT (Butyl Hydroxy Toluene) is a potent inactivator of enveloped viruses as evidenced by scientific publications listed in the US Department of Health database because it prevents the envelope of these viruses to attach to host cells.

The viral units cannot enter living cells and under these conditions they cannot survive or replicate.

BHT has the advantage of having a low toxicity and acting in infinitesimal doses.

It also has the advantage (and the disadvantage) of being in the public domain and its cost is very low.

The starting point of our analysis is the database of scientific publications listed by the US Department of Health.

A search on the words BHT enveloped virus provides 59 hits, click here to read them.

One of the oldest publications is item 18 from December 1975: Inactivation of the Lipid-Containing Bacteriophage PM2 by Butylated Hydroxytoluene by James Cupp, Paul Wanda, Alec Keith, and Wallace Snipes, click here to read.

His abstract states that studies of the time dependence of inactivation during exposure to BHT showed that virus killing occurs rapidly, with the majority of the effect taking place in the first 5 min.

Document 1:

The publication states that BHT is a potent inactivator of lipid-containing PM2 viruses and herpes simplex virus. It is effective in vitro, at concentrations as low as 10-5 to 10-4 M and is considered GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). BHT is commonly added to foods to preserve freshness and prevent spoilage (oxidation).

Document 2:

Another 1976 publication, item 9, Inactivation of the Enveloped Bacteriophage ø6 by Butylated Hydroxytoluene and Butylated Hydroxyanisole by Paul Wanda, James Cupp, Wallace Snipes, Alec Keith, Tom Rucinsky, Louis Polish, and Jeffrey Sands, click here to read, states in its abstract that BHT is a potent inactivator of the Enveloped Bacterial Virus ø6 at concentrations as low as 3 × 10-5 M, and that BHT-treated viruses […] are defective in their ability to attach to the host cell.

Document 3:

This publication states that BHT is a potent inactivator of viruses containing lipids located in their bilayer envelope and that the combination of efficacy against viruses and apparent low toxicity to humans has generated considerable interest in the potential use of BHT as an antiviral agent.

Document 4:

It is surprising that the use of BHT has not been studied to treat coronaviruses!

Searching on the words BHT enveloped virus provides 59 hits, click here to read them.

One of them, item 44, Encapsulated Food Products as a Strategy to Strengthen Immunity Against COVID-19 by Soubhagya Tripathy, Deepak Kumar Verma, Mamta Thakur, Ami R. Patel, Prem Prakash Srivastav, Smita Singh, Mónica L. Chávez-González and Cristobal N. Aguilar is a publication that shows that bioactive components such as antioxidants, minerals, vitamins, polyphenols, omega (ω)-3 fatty acids, lycopene, probiotics, etc., enhance immunity and may be a potential measure to prevent the COVID-19 epidemic, click here to read it.

These bioactive components may also act synergistically with BHT as its activity is stimulated by the presence of fatty acids.

Unpublished studies and (unofficial) human applications of BHT have confirmed its positive action against cold sores and influenza, which are enveloped viruses.

As coronaviruses are close to influenza viruses, the probability that BHT has a positive action against coronaviruses is very high.

Scientists and doctors should therefore be interested in the action of BHT against coronaviruses and people affected by a coronavirus could take BHT capsules to see the beneficial effects and make the benefits known, as was the case for ivermectin, click here to see the France Soir video with Adam Gaertner on this subject.

BHT has the particularity of having a low toxicity.

The literature reports that a woman who took 1.3 g of BHT per kilo of body mass, for example a total of 91 g in one day for a person weighing 70 kg, suffered only minor disorders of short duration. Other examples of this kind are known.

Moreover, BHT has the particularity of being active at infinitesimal doses: the virulence of a virus cell culture decreases by 5 to 7 log 5 minutes after contact with BHT-based molecules, which means, to simplify, that for 7 log, out of a culture initially containing 10 million viruses (107), only one virus survives 5 minutes after the introduction of BHT-based virocide.

However, it also has the particularity of having a very short half-life. This is why the doses to be prescribed must be very low but numerous.

At the beginning of a covid-19 crisis, for example, it is possible to take one capsule of 200 mg of BHT per hour, i.e. about 3 g of BHT per day to fight the replication of viral units, which is far from a daily dose that could be toxic!

As a preventive measure in case of high risk of contamination (contact cases), a 200 mg capsule every two hours for a few days is a plausible solution.

As a preventive measure in case of an epidemic but without a precise risk of contamination (without contact cases), a 200 mg capsule three times a day (morning, noon and evening) is a possible solution as long as this risk persists.

BHT also has the advantage and disadvantage of being in the public domain and its cost is very low…

These are probably the deep and serious reasons why nobody recommends to use this molecule against coronaviruses!

Indeed, BHT being in the public domain (it is no longer patented), any pharmaceutical laboratory can use it, which means that no laboratory will accept to bear the development costs of a Marketing Authorization (MA), which are around 1 to 10 billion dollars (USD) over a period of 10 years, because all the other laboratories could then market this molecule without bearing these development costs.

The cost of BHT incorporated in capsules is derisory: it is much lower than the cost of the packaging of the marketed product!

The prices of BHT vary from 10 to 100 dollars (USD) per kilo depending on the quality, the supplier and the marketing conditions.

Moreover, the use of this non-toxic BHT at low cost would render null and void all the injections of toxic products ineffective against coronaviruses that are fraudulently presented as being supposedly effective vaccines!

The propaganda cleverly organized in most countries of the world about this coronavirus story would then lose all credibility as well as all the people who collaborated to it and who benefited from it.

The manipulation of public opinion would then stop, at least for a while… and everyone could live normally, as before!

Those who organized these conspiracies by creating this story of coronavirus would be thus blocked in their projects for a certain time.

This solution would obviously have the big disadvantage of making hundreds of billions of dollars and euros lost to many of them…

Chemists are very familiar with BHT which is used in large quantities worldwide for many industrial applications.

Everything is simple, well almost…
